I just love this weather….NOT!  our power went out last night right after dinner, around 6:15 or so.   it came back on between 4 and 5 a.m. this morning.  it is still freezing in here as we  had no heat that entire time.   no school again for the kiddo, Dean had to go to work sadly.   I know I havent written a lot lately, and I have tons to share about, just dont have the time.

the biggest news:

my new medicines are really working…I awake feeling great, with no Pain!!!  it’s as if I was never sick to begin with, I feel blessed for sure by this!!  looking into getting a part time job working at church…maybe paid maybe volunteer…still thinking it through…

BO’s eval for speech therapy came back, he does great for his age in comprehension, but as far as speech itself he’s delayed, he’s at the level of a 15 month old, he’s currently 27 months old, so a year behind!  we knew something was wrong but that’s a big deal.  he goes this Friday for another eval for occupational therapy for the other issues he has, I’m nervous about it, I feel like it’s my fault he’s delayed.  if I hadnt been so sick and/or pregnant so soon he may have gotten more attention and would have been talking fine just like caleb did at his age.  I also worry something bigger is wrong with him healthwise but the pediatrician wont do anything to treat his vomitting problem.  the drs biggest concern was Bo’s size, he’s off the charts.  He is 36 in. tall…so above average in height, really tall actually for his age.   but also weighs 36 lbs so is overweight…but my thought is if he was short or normal height and that weight I’d understand but he’s taller but almost 15% of his peers so I would expect w/ the height extra weight evened it out, but she said we need to watch what he eats.  but he’s the healthiest of us…he’ll eat his fruit and veggies first and will turn down cookies or treats for a peice of fruit!   considering how much he throws up and is overweight I would think she would realize there’s a problem but she just wanted to drill me for overfeeding him, which we dont do.   I’d admit it if we did.

well I have to run…the kiddos are bored of me sitting here and want attention…silly kids….what am I your mother or something??

I’m so glad you’re feeling “better”! You’re often in my prayers. I miss you! Bo will catch up with himself sooner or later, don;t blame yourself for his delay. *Hugs*

I am so glad you are feeling better! Austin is 27 months and is tall for his age too and at his checkup last week he was 35 lbs. and that was just below average. I will have to check on that! Austin is also speech delayed and his ped. is scheduling an evaluation. Like you, I feel like its my fault for having another baby so soon..etc. Sometimes I feel like I am reading my own life when I read your blog! Anyhow, I am sure Bo is fine and it sounds like he is a great eater!

Amy if you ever want to talk let me know. We are going through the same thing with Gavin. He was at a 21 month level as far as development goes back when he was 27 months. He goes to school two times a week now, and has speech therapy once a month. He also meets with a developmentalist once a month.
One thing you might one to look into if he is having stomach issues is a food allergy. We are going to be starting the Gluten and Casein free diet with Gavin in April. He had reflux as a baby and has random puking issues. He is also big, almost 35lbs. He is the pickiest eater ever and some food textures or tastes will make him throw up. He has eczema. He is also socially and developmentally behind. What it comes down to is each symptom could be something else in itself. But looking at the whole picture it seems like a food allergy.
In young kids the inability to process gluten, dairy, and or eggs can be life impacting. It is not just a tummy ache it affects brain development and acts as a poison. Just something you may want to look into.
Never think this is your fault. Children will automatically pick up on speech naturally if exposed to it. So just having him in your home speaking to him should have been all he needed. Believe it or not just having Bo around language should have been all he needed to learn. If he is not there is a problem, and not with what you’ve done with him. I have had the same feelings, so I know what you’re feeling. But trust me, its not you!

    I hope all is well.

Oh PS…Gavin is THRIVING with therapy. He is up to over 100 words not to mention so many other things happening. So Bo will catch up!
