I
took the boys to the museum today. We started in a different part of the museum than we usually do and the boys really enjoyed it. Then we went to the childrens’ part of the museum, more specifically a part designed for more play than learning. Bo and Zeke got to be on a small stage as part of a kids’ karoake, they sang Happy Birthday and it was adorable!! not on key at all but as cute as can be! The boy who always talks of being on stage refused to get up and sing, I even trie
d to push him to several times and he just got mad at me. I asked him how in the world does he expect to act in shows when he couldnt even get up and sing a simple song in front of no more than 10 people!
Weekend Away
Dean and I left Friday afternoon to go to Columbus OH for a few days without the kids and life’s demands. Friday night we went to Thurman’s Cafe and got the best burgers ever!! Mine w
as called a “Yaeger”, it had fried onions, mushrooms, cheese, and french onio
n dip on it served open faced. we were going to go the drive in afteward but decided not to so just went back and watched movies on TV after stopping at a JCPenney’s outlet store where we got some shoes for us and Caleb. We took our time getting up and out on Saturday, which was soooo relaxing!! we went to the game convention for the day and got to play some demo games, lots of which were not yet being sold at stores. We even bought one that we really liked and bought it there since it’s not for sale in stores yet. For dinner we went to a chinese buffet and went back to the
hotel and watched “The Others” then went out
late for a milkshake at Sonic. Today we had lunch at a park then went to COSI(a musuem) for a few hours before heading home briefly to see the kids and have dinner w/ them before going to church to serve on the child dedication team. We got home and put the kids to bed and have been catching up o
n Dr. Who ever since! This week is fairly busy then ends w/ our trip to Balto. beginning!!
PICS UP ON FLICKR from this weekend
Today Dean’s found out they need him at the Baltimore office the week of July 7th. We think we will all get to go!! They will pay for hotel and were going to pay for a rental car and gas but I said all we really need is for them to pay for gas and we can drive our own van. I was bummed thinking we wouldnt get to go to Baltimore for a while because of gas prices and finances, but now it looks like we will get a free trip, except for food. They even give Dean food money per day so we can use that some and they will pay for the hotel!! I’m excited about it, it’s less than 2 weeks away!! Dean will be working the whole time but that just leaves me to spend time w/ family and friends. Wohooooo! Vacation afteralll….too cool.
Before reading about this (http://www.local12.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=588205b3-e9f5-4d8d-8726-31c92edf52ad)today, I only read the headline and told Dean my possible choices for what she had done wrong , my choices were:
A) not putting sunscreen on the kid
B) taking a nap and letting the kid play alone (or wander off)
C) leaving the kid in the car playing w/ the keys in it
GEEEZ…..that could definitely happen to me….I let the kids play alone someplace in the house, as I normally do and one comes to me crying and bleeding, oh wait that happens all the freaking time!!! I hope the bite marks on Zeke dont come back to haunt me. I really should stop blogging about this before someone reports me based on my blog entries alone. cause now a days that would be sufficient evidence for a conviction.
I told Dean before parents didnt need to use car seats in cars, and I’ve heard it said by older women that that would just leave their kids in the car if they went into a store and I am almost positive in the 60s there was a TON of child endangering going on while parents were stoned out of their minds…but no that was ok because everyone was doing it. Now it’s illegal to be a mediocre parent, goodness, sooner or later we’re all going to be screwed. then who’s going to take care of kids, the pedophiles and drug addicts……oh yeah life that will just be grand.
why does this keep bothering me, mostly because I am sure no one ever mentions what really was happening in these stories, or maybe that the mom did leave them for hours on end and that is truly bad, but if this was truly just a coincidence that she left the room then how are we to get through a day, heck what would have happened if she went to the bathroom!!
I just know that I am a bad mom, that no one can be the perfect parent and I worry that someone just has it out for these parents and calls the cops. not saying some of them dont deserve it, like I said I doubt we’d never hear the whole story, but if this is truly a one time fluke accident then why not give her a break, I”m sure she’s suffering enough after worrying about her kid getting hurt while she tried to get a minute break. motherhood if full of guilt, we dont need everyone reminding us how horrible we are at being moms.
We had a restful morning and spent a few hours at the pool this afternoon when Dean was home to go with us. I did just what the doctor ordered, rest and get some Vit D by hanging out in the sun. It was nice to lay by the pool and not have to watch the kids since Dean was there. I did eventually get in and since then my foot has hurt more again. It feels great as long as I rest and keep the brace on. it’s when I start to think it’s fine and over do it, I cant imagine keeping my routine mundane for 3 weeks!!! It’s barely been two days and I’m hating it!!
tonight I’m wishing either Dean was home or that I could at least be w/ him. He has gotten to be a big part of SOS at church this week and has left me home to take care of the kids. I’m a bit jealous and now that I’m supposed to take it easy I wish he was home to help. I couldnt convince him to stay home tonight and I’m kind of mad about it. I dont know how he expects me to get better if I dont rest, and taking care of kids and home isnt resting. Tomorrow he’ll be taking the boys to our nieces birthday party and I am going to stay home and rest so I can be up for church since we are on for tech this weekend.
well I’m off to be a good host, I cant believe I failed to make any homemade goodies for the boys staying here this week. Dean said I have been busy or pre-occupied which is true, but it’s unlike me not to bake in general any given week. Last night the guys wanted brownies and I realized how dumb I had been about not having fun foods around for them when they get home. (I made them brownies after 10:30 p.m.!) So this evening I’m making them some cookies. I have to at least try to redeem myself!! I just wish I didnt have to do it while tending kids and on my foot which is achy from being on it for the second half of the day. I cant wait for bedtime!!
Caleb and Bo spent the night at their grandparents last night and then went to Kings Island today. So I just had Zeke for the first half of the day. So we relaxed this morning and Dean came home to have lunch with us before leaving for the rest of the day. Zeke
and I napped before going to get the big boys and then spent some time at the pool w/ friends who came over for dinner afterwards. My foot is doing tons better
as long as I wear the brace and I can even tell a difference when walking w/out it. It is helping the arthritis/bone spur pain as well which is great!! I’d wear it all the time if it wasnt so huge and uncomfortable.
Poor Boaz has horrible sun burn because they spent hours at the waterpark at Kings I
sland and grandmom didnt put sunscreen on him. I might have to get it looked at by the doctor. Luckily he had his swim suit and shirt on, but
he’s got a rash on his chest too underneath the sun burned area on his neck. I tried to put aloe on it but he said it hurt and wiped it off. I’m hoping it looks better tomorrow. It’s really bad.
this about sums it up
A qoute from a wise friend today via email:
Get some REST! Remember that line in the Little Mermaid, where Sebastian is talking about Ariel and goes “Somebody’s got to nail that girls’ fins to the floor” that now reminds me of you!
