Anyone thirsty?

Tonight our young adult ministry at church had our first Servant Evangelism outreach. We went to a park in Columbia and handed out free sodas, water, and bubble gum packs to anyone who wanted it. There were a lot of people there and we handed out about 70 bottles of water, and at least 50 bottles (20 oz size) of coke/diet coke and who knows how many packs of gum. Almost every night in the summer the Columbia Association holds free events in and around Columbia. Tonight there was a concert in the park so there were quite a few people to reach out to. Almost everyone w/ us was there for their first experience w/ Servant Evangelism and overall the response was more positive than negative. A few people still cant believe they were told no to their offers of FREE coke or gum. But for the most part we gave out more than we didnt. Caleb thorougly enjoyed himself and wanted to give everyone a pack of gum. But I think his favorite part was dancing to the music from the concert. It was a great night and despite how tired I was to begin with it went very well! Dean is hoping our next outreach will be to hand out FREE packs of gum to people hanging out by the bars downtown. We’ve got the gum it’s just a matter of when we’ll go. Dean and I used to do Servant Evangelism outreaches at our church in Ohio and are glad we are able to bring something so fun and easy to help people realize how they can serve their community in practicals ways to show God’s love.

Chronic worrier but devoted Christian who is trying to put her fears and faith in the One who created it all and provides for all my needs despite the daily challenges and doubts that arise. Along the way I chose to share my journey with you. Thanks for coming along for the ride! The road won't always be bright and the journey may sometimes be hard, but it can be an amazing adventure if you keep your eyes and thoughts "on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable" (Philippians 4:8).
