Ah to be young again…

Things used to be so simple. Pre-marriage and kid(s) we were able to go out with whoever we wanted whenever we wanted. When you get married you kind of only want to go w/ one person or maybe some friends but scheduling isnt’ as big a deal. I am venting today becuase we have a lot of single or dating friends who like to make last minute plans but dont understand it’s not that easy for those of us w/ kids. Granted yes I chose to be only 25 w/ a child and one on the way, and others choose to remain single or childless until they are older, but I wish for once the other side would acknowledge that just because we choose a family over being alone doesnt mean we still dont long to go out and do fun stuff alone or even as a group or on a date w/ our spouse. It’s just harder and I guess I dont know why I expect someone who’s never had a kid to understand but I hardly want understanding, I just want acceptance that sometimes you need to be willing to change plans so all of your friends can go out together. Tonight I’ll be flying solo w/ the kid so Dean can go out. Not that I dont want to go with him, but it’s a Friday night and its hard enough to find a sitter for anyday of the week let alone primetime date night. So I choose to sit at home and do nothing. This is how things usually go in our life. I dont mind so much, except when I’m the one who is home 24-7 and never get to go out and do anything fun it gets to be kind of a drag. I love my son but theres something to be said for going out and having fun w/ adults. I think we are going out tomorrw w/ my brother and his wife to see a movie while my mom enjoys her 3 grandsons, but if it werent for mom I dont think we’d ever go out. I’m hoping to get out at least once a month w/ Dean before baby B comes because if finding a sitter for one kid is hard I cant imagine how hard it will be to find a sitter for two kids!!!

that being said, as seen in my prior post, last night I splurged at a salon for a good haircut. I love it! i’ve been seeing girls w/ their hair this way, it’s hard to see in the pic but it’s a cut I’ve always thought was cute so I went for it. I didnt know how I’d explain to the stylist what I wanted but I was lucky that two girls that were getting their hair done were almost getting the same type style done so I said I want that!! It was nice to get a good cut and have a conversation w/ an adult about anything but kids, but ironically of course we ended up talking about kids and being pregnant! While I was at the salon Dean was next door at Best Buy picking out a new digital Camera to replace our dead one. We kept saying we wouldnt get one but I’ve been wanting to document the pregnancy and it’s hard to do so w/ those disposable cameras since I’d like to post pics here. So we decided to splurge while we could, figuring making the purchase before baby B comes would be more sensible. So we ended up w/ this camera. It’s much more compact than our old Sony Mavica, which is good. The picture quality is better too, but thats expected since we bought our last camera about 5 years ago! So I’m sure I”ll be posting a lot more pics soon!
