Yesterday I stripped the wallaper in Bo’s room, put up and decorated the Christmas tree w/ the boys, made chocolate chip cookies and then went to volunteer at a concert so we could attend for free.   Today so far I’ve made a batch of peanut butter cookie dough and that’s about it.  I feel like there’s so much I need to do before Tuesday but I can’t focus.    Dean went out to help his brother do something and wont be back for a few hours; he took the lil’ boys with him.   Caleb is being picked up to spend the night at his grandmoms in a little while so he’s home w/ me, but not really since he’s outside playing and I’m in the nice warm house.

I need to go shopping for my clear liquid diet supply for Monday and for somethings I’ll need for my hospital bag and recovery time but Dean’s got the van so I can’t do that.  So I guess I’ll spend my Saturday afternoon cleaning house and putting away laundry.   wohoo!

BTW figured out how to best freeze cookie dough, using the small bar pan from pampered chef, line it w/ wax paper then cover that w/ cookie dough.  Smooth it down then lay another peice of wax paper on top.   Place in the freezer for a few minutes to harden, then take out and cut but not all the way through, so it looks like the way the break and bake cookies look you buy at the store.  then put it in a gallon size freezer bag and freeze until you are in the mood for some cookies, thaw in the fridge before baking like you normally would.   So I’ve got a few sets of these in the freezer now so we can still enjoy Christmas cookies without Dean having to buy store bought while I’m out of commission.

Not sure why I was so excited that after the elections things would go back to normal, now people just seem to be either complaining or jumping for joy.   On a forum I frequent people are referring to Obama as the ant-Christ.  I think that’s funny since someone close to me voted for him, I didn’t vote so it wasnt me.   I guess after having their party in office for so long they think the world is going down the drain, but the funny thing is that it’s their government that got us in this financial mess yet they are mad that now things are going to change?  I don’t get it.  That’s why I try to stay out of politics.  I just don’t get it.  he’s another man in office.  Man, humans, are failed, no matter who was elected it would have sucked in some way, thus why I don’t vote.   So get over it, everyone.   It’s another election, we can’t control what happens, really we think our vote matters and I guess it does on the grand scale but no matter who is in office the government will do whatever the heck it wants so we’re all along for the ride no matter how we voted.   Get used to it….there’s only One person in charge of my life and really as long as we trust Him then why stress over something as stupid as elections.

yes I might be ignorant but I don’t care.  I firmly believe that things will happen the way there are meant to, and God knew a long time ago the outcome of this election so what’s the point in my worrying about it.   I’m glad that we live in a world that someone from a different race can be our leader, but really it was just a matter of time and I’ll really only be impressed when it’s a woman or the system actually changes into one where things happen that are actually for the Good of the people not just the rich and powerful, but I won’t hold my breath.    ooooh even better than a woman president would be if we had a gay or lesbian in office, now that would be interesting!   I guess to me it’s just easier to see Obama as another man since I don’t really ever see someone as what color they are but I know that this is important historically and that some people are probably hating him being elected but for me he’s just another man, no matter what color, he’s human and just like the rest of us, til yesterday that is, and then in January he’ll be in control of way too much power in my opinion.    I just don’t get all the hype….I guess I should be glad our country finally looked past the external, but really it was just a matter of time…

Oh yeah,  when talking to a stranger this week I heard the best idea I’ve heard in a while, she said she was embarrassed at hearing how much campaign money both parties had and used on this election.    She said that if they had used that money for something useful like paying off the countrys debt or taking care of other issues then maybe she’d vote for them.   I second her….sure they have to get their name out there but w/ the internet and tv I can bet they could have easily saved a lot of that money to put to much better use than waking up my kid from his nap several times over the last month trying to get my vote, because if anything it made me want to not vote even more.

Last night we went out to dinner and to see a play.  it was a nice relaxing evening butDSCF0983 we were both already tired before we left so I’m sure it could have been a little better overall(I even had a nice migraine so that was swell!)  But it was great to get out w/ the kids and enjoy some time alone.

Candy! Candy! Candy

I McKenzie Boys Halloween 2008know some folks don’t let their kids celebrate Halloween and I sometimes wonder if we should be more cautious but we are trying to teach our kids the true mHalloween Candyeaning of the day:  Dress up to show others how adorable you are so they feel compelled to give you loads of free candy.  So really, it’s all good right?  The best part of being a parent at Halloween is well I guess there’s two great things, # 1, the kids are so freaking adorable dressed up and #2 we get to eat all that candy!!!

speaHalloween 2008king of cute…my handsome hubby and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary tomorrow evening w/ dinner and going to the theater to see a play.  I’m very excited about , although I’m not sure if I can wear something nice and still look good w/ this dumb boot on my foot!

2nd post op for foot surgery

well I went to my second post op appointment today during which finally all of the operative dressing came off.  The incision is much bigger than I expected, I should have known w/ what came out it wouldn’t be tiny!   After overdoing for the last two days my foot was wearing the effects, it has been swollen and painful, but suprisingly notDSCF0976 in the incision area.   I have tendinitis which is causing pain because my foot isn’t used to being in the 90 angle that the boot I have to wear makes it since I’ve had it so relaxed for so long.   Also it turns out some of the pain is from the old stress fracture.  The x-ray they did at the hospital right after the surgery showed that the stress fracture was still there and not completely healed, which suprised the doctor.  it should have been healed by now.  So nothing to induce more resting that swelling and pain and x-ray proof of the still not healed fracture!  so it’s back to bed for me this afternoon as Dean got rid of the kids for me, although I feel so guilty about it.   I feel mentally able to do anything, it’s the physical restraints that are doing me in and anyone who knows me knows that I don’t do “nothing” well!   🙂
but the surgery(incision) site looks well, I can now finally shower without having it covered, tomorrow that is.  So tomorrow morning I can awaken and take a nice shower for the first time in our newly re-tiled shower.  Hoping that starts my day off right since it’s going to be a tad busy!
Just want to say thanks to all who have helped out this last week and a half and update everyone.  We could always still use a hand w/ the kiddos when/if anyone’s free!  Meals would be great too, as any extended standing on my part means I have to be back resting again right after.   For every amount I’m up on my foot, no more than an hour or two at a time I need to be sitting or laying down w/ it iced and elevated again so it makes for an interesting day!   and a boring one!

our new master bathroom, kind of

newmastershower  well a little while ago, I have lost all sense of time lately, the tiles on the shower in our master bathroom caved in.   A friend of the family’s came over and worked on re-tiling it w/ new tile for us and it looks amazing.  We hnewtiledmastershoweraven’t used it yet and I’m looking forward to tomorrow because after my afternoon doctors appointment I should be able to bathe/shower and get my foot wet for the first time in 12 days! I keep getting a bath w/ a bag over my foot and not showering , which I hate.  I love showers.   I ordered this shower curtain and it should be at the store for pick up tomorrow!   Silly how I get excited about the little things.

oh yeah, two weeks til my hysterectomy.   I scheduled my pre-op testing for next Tuesday morning.  After that I think the reality of it will set in for sure.  for now I’m still working on getting over this dumb foot pain.   (and now itching, again glad the bandages come off tomorrow!)
