Happy 4th Birthday Boaz!!

boaz1weekold.jpgIt’s hard to believe that 4 years ago I had a fresh abdominal incision as well, but then it was because of the newest arrival to our family via c-section!   Back then we were all smitten with the little bundle of joy, even Caboazjan05.jpgleb was!   While we’re all still in love w/ the Bo man now, well it’s different.   Caleb of course has more sibling rivalry than love most of the time for him but there are those times when the two hug and play when it’s just priceless!   4 years ago I’d never believe I’d have another son by now as well in addition, and if anyone loves Bo it’s Zeke!   those two are inseparable!

a look back….

 rolling out the dough

Yesterday afternoon the boys and I made sugar cookies.  Zeke was probablmaking sugar cookies y the best at it, must be because he has the most playdough experience!  🙂

Amy & DeanLast night Dean and I attended my first improv show ever.  It was hilaJoe, Sean, & Missyrious and tons of fun to see friends.   I hope we can make it to the next one too!

Nothing much going on this weekend.  I’m feeling the pain after going after for 3 evenings in a row so I’m trying to rest up today so I can go to church tonight.  Dean has to be at work on Monday and I don’t have anyone to help w/ the kids so that should make for a fun day! Thankfully the end of next week everyone is off for Thanksgiving!

Bo’s birthday is Monday, but I’ll post about that later!

Fun times!

DSCF1017 So last night my friend Malinda took me to the grocery store and was amazing.  She unloaded my groceries at the checkout, loaded them into her van and then unloaded them into our kitchen!  It was the longest I’d been out of the house since my surgery.

Another friend from church, Maureen works for Cincy Chic, an online magazine.   They werDSCF1019e having a contest and the winners won 3 of Sanda Lee’s new cookbooks( this, this one an this!) a chance to meet her to get the book signed and get your picture with her.  So yesterday Maureen told me I was a winner.   I invited Malinda to join me so we planned to go together.    The funniest thing was I was worried Malinda wouldn’t get to meet Sandra Lee like I woulDSCF1020d but as she was standing around waiting for the interview, she walked up to Malinda and introduced herself and shook her hand, then she did the same, so she got to meet her before I did!    She also was able to get her books signed.

Go here to watch Maureen interview Sandra Lee as well as towards the end see her addressing me, signing my books then you will see me getting my pic taken w/ her.   Way too cool! ( you may need to scroll down and click on the video w/ Maureen and Sandra Lee)  I was excited that there are a few great looking slow cooker recipes in the one cookbook that I know we will love!  I am all for new slow cooker recipes!   (susan I’ll have to share them with you of course!  🙂 )

Tomorrow night Dean and I are going to an improv show that should be a lot of fun.  I could get used to not working, not having to take care of the kids all day, and getting to go do fun stuff in the evenings after being lazy most of the day!   Yeah right, you know if it werent for these last few nights out I’d be going stir crazy!

That’s what friends are for

No news is good news…

I didn’t even ever write about how hideous those few days in the hospital were, and theres no point going back and rehashing it now.    I’m still having to take pain medicine and am still having issues with being nauseas.   I’m even enjoying night sweats, they should be a temporary hormonal issue that we are hoping works itself out over time since I still have my ovary I shouldn’t become menopausal.

Dean is working so hard at doing this stay at home dad thing, also temporarily.   The kids aren’t used to mommy not being up and around, they occassionally climb up and cuddle with me in bed.   This morning I got up and was putting some laundry away that Dean had brought up and Zeke asked me why I was up from nap.   He’s a smart cookie that one!  🙂

On Monday we went out to lunch since I hadn’t been out of the house in days, but I felt so sick by the time we were done I realized it had been too soon to push it.   I’ve been up and around the house as much as I can without feeling more miserable.   The recovery from this is way harder than a c-section, at least in my opinion!   I was forewarned but I just couldn’t beleive how it could be much different but now I know better!  I’m feeling tons better than I was at this point last week so I know it’s getting easier!

Tomorrow night my friend and I are going to see Sandra Lee from semi homemade cooking.  She’s been wanting me to get out since I’ve been cooped up but I didnt really want to do shopping so this should be fun!   I’ve even won Cincy Chic’s contest and get to do all this:

Cincy Chic is giving two lucky winners a chance to not only meet and get their picture taken with Sandra Lee, at her Joseph-Beth appearance, but also signed copies of Lee’s latest books, Semi-Homemade Money Saving Meals, Semi-Homemade Fast-Fix Family Favorites and Semi-Homemade Desserts 2!”

survived surgery

I know that all of your prayers helped, I was so calm before the surgery I knew it had to be a God thing.   the doctor left both ovaries since they were normal, but that means I’ll still get ovarian cysts and have ovulation pain.   But I won’t have periods so that pain and mess is gone!   Apparently my uterus was attached to my bladder and abdominal wall, and was more than likely the cause of the pelvic pain I was having.    I am in a ton of pain and have been since I awoke in recovery this morning.  I have a morphine pump and I control when I get more, but I am still in significant pain even w/ that.   I havent seen my doctor but should in the morning and I have a lot of questions for him!   I have never had pain this bad, esp. considering I’m on morphine already.  Dean’s parents spent the night w/ the kids tonight so he is here w/ me tonight so at least I’m not alone!    Well three surgeries in 2 1/2 months and I have survived but as expected this is the biggest of them all.  Please continue praying, and if anything pray the pain goes away completely!!!   (and soon!)  well off to bed , well sleep, I’ve been in bed all day!  I should be in the hospital until thursday.

less than 2 days to go….stressing a little and feeling like time is dragging

Enjoyed my last meal for a while, a late night snack, second dinner whatever you want to call it, a double quarter pounder, fries and a large sweet tea.     Tomorrow it’s nothing but clear liquids, wohoo!!  then Tuesday bright and early an IV to fill me up before and during surgery, then who knows when I’ll get real food again.   Since my surgery is early Tuesday, 7:30 I am hoping I’ll be up to for something that night.   I did pretty well after each c-section with being able to eat afterward pretty soon and tolerating it, hoping that holds true for this too.

well off to bed, trying to ignore the messy house til tomorrow.  no point in cleaning now when I can spend all day doing it tomorrow and the kids will just make another mess!   on the agenda for tomorrow is finishing up laundry and changing everyone’s sheets and that’s about all.    oh and trying not to freak out!  🙂
