Wisdom from my walk

we finished off our last night w/out the kids by staying at the convention playing “I am not a werefolf” until 3:30 a.m.  by the  time we got to the hotel and asleep it was well after 4.   we set the alarm to get us up at 8:30 so we could get packed up and to Dean’s parents house by 11 a.m. so they could prepare for a party they were hosting this afternoon.   We went home got Zeke to nap, had lunch and headed to the Pool.  there was a picnic we knew we were going to go to this evening, so we left the pool around 4:30 to come home to let the boys nap and be at the picnic at 6.  when we got home our friend had called and when he called back he asked where we were, apparently the lack of sleep, busyness and feeling crappy(it’s been a bad fibromyalgia week or two again)  we discovered I’d made the mistake of thinking the picnic started at 6 but indeed instead it was 4-6.  we found out after the boys were all nice and asleep in their beds for a late nap.   blah….Dean woke up Caleb and they are  heading to the picnic, the event was mainly to help us get plugged into a small group, an event we helped facilitate and I made this dumb mistake of not showing up at the right time.  I had just put a tray of brownies in the oven while Dean put the boys in bed, so I guess when the brownies are done I will wake up the boys and we’ll head to the last 30 minutes of the picnic, luckily it’s only about 5 minutes from our house, if that.

tomorrow morning Bo and Caleb get tubes in their ears.  I am probably putting a call into my dr to find out what else I can do to help me feel better…I think most of the problem is because I havent been taking my exercise class, the one week was for various reasons, this week we were away and this week again our mornings are too full.   but theres got to be something else to help me feel better than forcing myself to exercise when I dont have the time or the energy….i’ve been taking tylenol round the clock in addition to my other pain meds and am still in pain.  i cant take any ibuprofen type meds so tylenol is my only option.  I’m feeling even worse today due to lack of sleep, but boy did we have fun playing games all night.

it was a rough day back at home. zeke is very fussy.  I dont know if it’s just because he’s been off schedule or what but he’s been unbearably fussy.  Bo is acting different but it’s not necessarily better or worse.  Caleb is back to his rude self now that we are home, mostly arguing w/ Dean, as is always his problem.    we’re tired, the kids are tired.   so I hate to have to wake them up from a much needed nap to go to this event but we really need to be there.  I cant believe I made such a stupid mistake.  blah…..

OMG! I am having SO much fun. Seriously!

We just got back from the best meal I have ever had, seriously, no offense mom but it was just awesome! 🙂 We went to Texas Roadhouse because Dean’s brother and wife gave us a gift card for Christmas and we’d yet to use it so we brought it with us w/ plans to go out for a good dinner. And it was great! we shared a full rack of ribs, a steak, a margarita and we each had two side, mine were a ceasar salad and baked potato. Yesterday we used gift cards from my mom for Subway. we are pretty tight on money this week and we knew we were making this trip but didnt expect to be so tight on money so the gift cards are helping, A LOT.

Before we left the game convention I won my second 1st place game of Ticket to ride Marklin, a version of the game I’ve never played even! I’ve been playing in 4 qualifying games, I’ve won two games w/ first place,came in one with second place and one in third place. We checked my ranking before we left tonight and I was in 4th place overall!! you have to be in the top 20 to make it to the semi finals tomorrow night. you can replay any of your games as long as there are qualifiers still be played. so I might try to replay my third place game to see if I can get a better spot, but I guess 4th at least puts me in the semi finals! I’m so excited about that!

we’ve played countless other games, some new, new as even off the presses this week! which is awesome!

Dean and I have played some games together, some on our own while the other goes to play something else. so it’s kind of a nice break. I am loving the kid free week, but am missing my boys. Caleb calls us several times a day to see what we are up to and if we dont answer our cell phones he leaves us adorable messages on our voicemail.

the kids ENT called this afternoon to say there was a cancellation and the boys surgeries, for tubes, could be moved til this monday. so a nurse called to an over the phone pre-op and they’ll finish that Monday before the surgery. so Bo and Caleb will go early, we have to be there by 6:30 a.m. , for their tube surgery. great way to get back to reality of parenthood after our 5 day vacation.

we are grateful to those who gave us our gift cards for past holidays, those who’ve taught us new games this week and most of all a BIG THANKS to Dean’s mom and dad for being the best grandparents ever for taking care of the kids all week for us. we really owe them, this has been a great and much needed break for both of us, and doing so well in this tournament has made the week even more exciting for me!! not to mention the quality adult alone time!! theres just something about waking up own your own after 8 a.m. and not having to change a diaper, wet bed sheets, or get a kid a drink all before you even get to pee or brush your teeth!! thanks so much mom and dad!!! we love you!!

Dean and I will be celebrating our Independence Day by ditching the kids for a few days and heading to a game convention in columbus.  I’m not really expecting much but am so going just for the time away from the kids, i really need it.  I feel bad though that we are leaving all three kids for so long w/ Dean’s parents.  I am worried it will be too much for them, heck most days it feels like too much for me!!  and Bo is a real challenge but at least I know they both have a lot of experience with kids like bo so I know if anyone can do it it’s them!!  thanks for taking the kids and we will really owe you for this one!!!     I cant wait for the peace and quiet to begin…wohooo!!

Zeke’s tube surgery went well. he had a lot of fluid in both ears, a substantial amt in his right ear. the doctor said she drained it but that it may continue to drain for the next few days. they did prepare us ahead of time that Zeke might be grouchy when waking up from his short anesthesia, but it was so sad watching him be so out of it and so upset. Zeke in general is a great baby, he hardly gets too upset, and amidst most bouts of crying you can make him laugh and he’s done. he did great falling asleep from the anesthesia but he was so upset when he woke up. he came home and threw up all over Dean’s mom. then we put him down for a nap, i just checked on him and he’s out for the count. we’re hoping after a good nap he’ll wake up in a better mood. After seeing how sad Zeke was upon waking, I am dreading the experience w/ Bo and Caleb, but who knows they might take it better, they said at Zeke’s age it’s just harder on them, so maybe the older ones will be fine.

we went to a drive in last night to see Ratatouille.   It was a good movie, and the price was good, but the night sucked.   Boaz threw up as the movie started, he threw up all over the blankets we had brought so we were a tad chilly as the night went on.   Later on Zeke threw up all over his car seat.  we are hoping they both just had some bad milk or something since Zeke is scheduled for his tube surgery on Monday.   at first I thought Bo’s throwing up was due to overstimulation and fear, it happened just as the movie started, so it was loud and the movie screen freaked him out.   but then Zeke threw up later so who knows.  we put Zeke is Bo’s clean car seat so on the drive home Bo sat on my lap in the back w/ a seatbelt on, and it was a good 40 minute drive home.   we didnt get home til after midnight, and we didnt get to stay for the second movie which was Oceans 13.   we were going to but Bo just wouldnt settle down and I had felt bad all day and was way past my level of comfort and all patience had been gone for hours.   so we headed home a few minutes into Oceans 13.      I’m up this morning w/ the kids and I didnt get to bed til after 1 and just want to crawl back in bed, but since the kids and the dog woke me up once already I just got up and let Dean sleep.   We’ve got no plans til this evening when we go to church, Dean’s running  a camera and I’m switching.  It’s just for tonight not all weekend since it’s the 5th Saturday of the month they needed folks to help out and we are more than willing, so we are hoping the boys are ok all day and that the throwing up was an isolated incident so our weekend and week can go as planned.  I just wish I felt better this morning, the boys are acting fine, hyper as usual….

it’s way too early for me to be awake.  Mel needed to be at the airport, an hour away, by 6 a.m for her 7 a.m. flight.  It’s 6, Dean stopped to get gas by the house when they left, Mel got out of the car and all of the doors locked automatically, with the keys still in the ignition.  I cant find a spare key here at the house, I found what might be a key to that car, but I’d have to leave all three kids sleeping and alone to run it to him, or wake them all up which would be crazy, either way Mel’s still gonna miss her flight.     he told me the other day that the doors kept doing that for some reason, I always take my keys out of the ignition or leave the driver door open in my van in fear of  one day leaving the boys locked inside because our van auto locks the door too after you have the car running or something strange so I am so afraid of that.  he’s calling a locksmith now, but no matter what Mel is stuck missing her flight and who knows how much financially damage that is gonna cost…blah!   this is so ridiculous.

I started writing that at 6 this morning..since then…I found a car key, left the kids in bed and took the key to Dean.   Cancelled the pop a lock service, saving us $50.   Mel’s dad changed the flight til tomorrow, it cost him $150.  doh!   I feel so horrible about that.  I should have just driven her halfway or all the way to Baltimore this weekend w/ Dean. made a family trip or something.   the boys slept in some, the litle ones til 9:30 so I had time to sleep in some and shower.   Caleb was up early but he sat and watched tv.   not sure of our plans today, Mel’s still in bed so we’ll see once she wakes up what she wants to do on her last day here, again! 😉
