Wisdom from my walk

I really need a nap.

I hate when it turns out my mothers intuition comes true.  I had gone down into reading to the car wash and on the way home saw a ton of fire engines heading toward our way home.  As I left to come home I saw more and more police and an ambulance, and I worried something was wrong at home.   but then as I got closer to home and saw no more engines I got a lot more worried.  I didnt see or smell smoke so I just went home and our house was safe.  minutes w/in unloading the boys the phone rang, the school was asking us to come get the kids, they had been outside for about an hour at this point because the police wouldnt allow anyone in the building.  they only told us their was a power outage.  turns out that’s not the whole story.  as we were leaving we saw the local 12 news truck setting up for a satellite feed.   it was an awesome sight, at least a dozen emergency vehicles, police cars, fire engines from reading and evendale, and an ambulance.  nothing like a memorable first day of school!!

Should have known he was sick since he slept through the night for the first time in forever. Zeke now has a fever. he’s been sick off and on for about 2 months. i’m starting to get a little concerned. I dont think he should keep getting so sick over and over again. poor little baby. at least no throwing up, yet!

caleb had a rough start to his first day of school.  he laid next to me in bed all ready to go and cried that he didnt want to go.  I know he’ll enjoy it but he just didnt want to go.  not sure why, anxiety I’m sure.  he’s a bit of a worrier like I am about new things.  hoping he makes it through ok, they are dismissing early all week due to the heat and lack of a/c at the school.  i cant believe in such an advanced state of technology we have these days that the school cant afford to at least have a/c.  I would rather them have a/c then a great computer lab.

gotta run, bo’s getting into trouble, as usual…

we met Caleb’s teacher, this is her third year teaching.  Her second year as a 1st grade teacher, she started out teaching kindergarten.   I’m excited about the year now that I’ve met her.  I think last year was just hard because we were adjusting to a new school, and oddly it affected me a lot too, not just Caleb.   I’m hopeful since he’s got a younger newer teacher that things will be better communication wise and after talking with her and seeing how she does things I’m looking forward to it.  Hoping if anything last year was hard just because of the adjustments we had to make and I had gotten used to things the way they were.  I’m going to aim to make this a better school year for me and Caleb, now if only the school had better parking arrangements, then I’d be really happy!

Zeke is most definitely ill. He just fell asleep on the sofa this evening while Caleb, Bo and I were at the school’s open house.  he’s had a ton of messy diapers , two in the 30 minutes we were gone and in which he fell sound asleep on the sofa.  Hoping it just stays dirty diapers and doesnt end in vomitting as well.

I feel like I havent done a thing all day….but I know I must have since the house is still standing, the boys have clean diapers on and it’s even semi clean in here.   I think Zeke may be getting sick he’s had some nasty diapers all day and seem to be getting more frequent.  Dean feels yucky.  Caleb’s eyes have been bothering him, they’re all itchy and red.  Bo seems fine of course, a fireball of energy and anger.  I am so sick of that child hitting me I almost lost it today.   I’m exhausted and I’ve still got a few hours til bedtime.

I’m worried about a lot of things today, things I cant change and I know I need to have faith but things havent looked this bleak in a long time.   the rain finally stopped, but the sun still isnt shining.  I wish it was, maybe then I’d feel a little more sunshiney.   until then i’m going to keep pushing myself to get through with this day.  speaking of which, I smell another stinky diaper.   why is it he gets diarrhea right when I open the last container of new wipes and we have no money til the first of the month which is two weeks away.  I’ m sure things will work out, I’m just really blaming myself and my illness for our lack of money, and I know thats a lot of our problem.

well I didnt want to write about money, I want to forget all about it…since there is no money I mine as well not think about any huh?

Listing a ton of baby stuff on craigslist today.  Kind of sad to see it go.  I gave a friend a ton of baby clothes, like 5 bags full or something up to size 12 months and I hated to do it.  to admit there will be no more little McKenzie babies in our home.   My babies are all growing up so much..first day of first grade tomorrow…still working on potty training one and trying to get Zeke to speak for himself ( bo likes to talk for him, which is odd because Caleb never did that for Bo)

well I’m busy this morning but dont feel like I’ve accomplished a darn thing.  it’s rainy and blah out and the kind of is how i feel.  Calebs school stuff is all ready to.   we’ll just need to pack his lunch tonight and he’ll be all set!

and an update on our mini-vacation(we were supposed to be in Baltimore cheering on my best friend for her very first triathlon, but we had to stay home due to lack of funds)

Thursday: went to a different Y w/ Bo and Zeke’s early intervention class, went swimming there

Friday: went to Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Caleb originally wanted to go to the aquarium but after I found out we could go to the boonshoft for half price and he was willing to change his mind, he really likes the boonshoft museum, so we changed our plans, we even took our neice Laura with us. Friday evening friends came over for dinner and games. neighborhood kids and our neice laura were here as well to watch the premiere of High School Musical 2.

Saturday: Dean took the kids to the zoo in the morning, came home for lunch then we went swimming at the Y then home for naps and to church in the evening

Sunday: church from 8-1 to serve on tech team then home for naps

which brings us to today, or last day of our vacation, Dean returns to work tomorrow. we spent almost all day at Kings Island, we had packed lunch. in the morning we did dry rides, had lunch then met Deans mom and neice Laura at the waterpark . shortly before 4 p.m. Dean, myself and Zeke came home so that Zeke could nap. the other 2 boys stayed w/ Dean’s parents until Dean went to get them after dinner tonight while I stayed home to put away loads of laundry and clean up

oh yeah, how could I forget, tonight I went to get a haircut.  my hair is the longest it’s been since before Caleb was born, if not longer than that.  I want to keep growing it but it’s driving me nuts being so long and curly.  the hairdresser was not so keen on how thick or curly my hair is, which was kind of annoying as both things are out of my control.  i asked for her opinion on things to make it more manageable, esp. in the front and she could say nothing but negative things about thick curly hair.  blah…I think she may have been jealous, she had short spikey hair.  So I took some pics, if you had seen me before you’d see no difference since in the end all she did was wash and trim my hair.  I miss my stylist in baltimore!!  if anything the best thing about my hair is the cool ponytails I can do and I also have found some cool updos w/ this hair clip I have but I didnt do that today so no pics of that, sorry!

tomorrow it’s back to work for Dean and tomorrow night there’s an open house at Caleb’s school so he can meet his teacher. School starts wednesday and Wednesday night there’s a parent meeting for the co-op for the other boys. thursday there’s a picnic at a park for the boys early intervention class and Friday I hope to catch up on housework after a busy week! 🙂
