I have never dreaded getting on the scale this whole pregnancy, and today didnt think twice, as lately I’ve lost or maintained the same weight. Well, since Thursday, yes in 4 short days, I’ve put on 6 freakin pounds!!!! what the heck! that darn baby shower cake! I didnt eat much differently except for some cake at the shower and some homemade bread that day too. I am very depressed about it! Sure I’m still at an overall weight gain of only 10 lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight but I thought for sure I wouldnt gain this much, especially not this quickly! Well no more cheating on this diet or this kiddo is going to be born a giant! i am really scared now of how big he’ll be at my u/s on Thursday.

the dr wasnt concerned w/ my weight gain at all, not nearly as concerned as I was! she said if my bp was up or I was more swollen she’d be worried but my bp was actual low today and I’m only a little swollen. so the appointment was long and frustrating. first internal check was quite painful which of course means I’m not at all dilated or close to labor yet. So things were normal and baby B’s heartrate did great on the stress test. He was very active today too which makes for an easy test. So nothing new to report really. Kind of dissappointed. was hoping for some kind of change, but looks like it’ll be another 2 weeks of these same old same appointments. have I mentioned how ready I am for this to be over!??

yes the end is in sight and I am grateful just wishing it was a tad sooner. scheduled my last two appointments today, and found out which dr is going to do my c-section. The receptionist was suprised that I didnt care which dr was doing the procedure. I see all of the drs, and when you go as often as I do that means I’ve seen them all at least once. So I didnt really care to request a certain dr. If I was going to be laboring I’m sure I’d care a little more but really I love all of the drs at the ob practice so it doesnt matter much.

well I need to get a brief rest so I’m up to going out this evening. hope everyone is having as great Monday!

On Saturday morning we atttended our hospital tour, I like this hospital much better than the one where I delivered Caleb. So that’s a good start! After a brief rest after the tour I attended the baby shower our church held for us. We got a lot of great stuff – the thing I’m most excited about right now is a gift certificate for a massage! I had told Dean months ago I’d like to get a pregnancy massage before baby B comes but we just dont have the money, and I was totally suprised when a friend gave me the gift certificate for a massage at the shower. she’s preggo too and I know I’ll never be able to get her a gift quite as cool, I’m going to have to think long and hard at a good gift for her when the time comes!!

the other cool thing I got, and really only was exciting to me, was the letters to put Baby B’s name on his wall. I’ve been looking all over the place for these letters and it never fails that one store has all but one of the ones I need, and it’s a short name so it was getting quite annoying. So my friend finally found them all for me so all I need to do now is paint them and hang them up! the tough part now is deciding what color and where to hang them. Tonight I got these for the baby’s room too. The other thing I’ve been wanting really badly is something to hang up the baby comforter on the wall since we shoudlnt use it for the baby, not to mention another great present at the shower was a handmade blanket and I think it’ll get nice and worn out by baby B when he’s big enough to use it!! I registered for some comforter clips but none of the stores actually have them in the store and I dont want to pay s&h. I actually won ones on e-bay that would have been perfect but they never arrived even after the person said they had been shipped, but that’s a whole different story! So right now we’re trying to figure out how best to hang the comforter. Dean wants to get a quilt hanger, a nice one. I’m content w/ the silly little comforter clips but cant find them in the stores. With any luck before Baby B comes his room will be ready though, and it’s not too big of a rush as the room has been painted and ready to go w/ furniture for a while, it’s the finishing touches that are left undone. it’s not like he’ll be in his room right away as we have the cradle set up in our bedroom since that worked best w/ Caleb for the first few months.

I’ve got my hospital bag packed, and purchased the last thing I needed for it today, maternity/nursing bras. So we’re ready as far as that goes. We’ve got 15 days to go, not counting the actual day of delivery since we need to be at the hospital at 6 am it’s hardly worth counting that as a full day! thinking of it that way I’m getting pretty freaked out, I’m ready but I’m not. I’m actually becoming scared out of my mind at the thought of being a family of four!! I know I can handle it, heck I’ve babysat 2 kids plus Caleb so I know how to manage three young kids at one time if not more, but this will be a 24 – 7 deal!! I’m sure we’ll be fine, it’s just the whole thought is getting to me. I mean I really want more than 2 kids and adjusting to having two will be easier than going from 0 kids to 1 was, but it’ll still be a big adjustment. that being said, it’s late and I better get a good nights sleep while I still have a chance!

yesterday’s appointment went well again. I lost the lb I’d gained last week, so still at only a 4 lb gain overall. I’m actually quite proud of that! Less than 3 weeks left and the chances of me gaining much more are slim to none. At this point in my first pregnancy I weighed 15 lbs more than I do now, so I’m very glad to be where I am now weight wise. that’s enough about me, the baby is growing by leaps and bounds. The u/s estimates his weight around 6 lbs 5 oz, a little big for his age but that was expected. Just like his big brother, his head is measuring much larger, two weeks larger. Caleb was like that too, more than likely part of the reason I wasnt able to deliver vaginally at 40 weeks w/ Caleb. So if I deliver this one at 38 weeks he’ll likely be almost as big as a 40 week baby so that’s good.

They start doing internal checks on Monday and I”m hoping that might give me a better chance of going into labor, but I’m not too worried at this point, not much longer now. Although I’m definitely ready to deliver this child. I am so uncomfortable, and I’m sure being sick for 2 weeks isn’t helping any. I feel like I cant do anything I want to, and my sugars are still all out of whack. I ran all day yesterday and neither Caleb or I got a nap so by evening we were all quite whiny. by bed time I had broken down and was a miserable teary eyed mess and drove Dean nuts. sorry hon!

not that I remember much about the end of Caleb’s pregnancy except that I was on bedrest, but I dont think I was this ready for it to be over. I’ve heard women say this is the hardest part and that they are ready to be done and I couldnt relate til now. I’d do just about anything to know I’d deliver sooner and that’s sad becuase I know I have less than 3 weeks already, and I know when I’m going to deliver. With caleb I went to 40 weeks and it wasnt really a big deal, the waiting. this time I am just done. It’s definitely been a trying 9 months and I’ll be so glad to see our little boy. I’m at least starting to get over this bug, I hope this is the end at least.

we’ve got a great weekend coming up, our hospital tour tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon our church is having a baby shower for us, it was supposed to be a suprise but they accidentily sent me an email about it. I really want to go see The Incredibles this weekend but dont know if we will take Caleb with us or not. I was joking we could try to see a matinee today since Dean’s “working from home” but not sure he’ll do that! well gotta get, the kiddo is waiting for his turn to play on the puter.

I wish 3rd trimester morning sickness and lack of appetite was a sure sign of impending labor, but i doubt it is. I think it’s just another one of life’s cruel jokes. I have to eat a certain amt for my diabetic diet, and I’m barely eating that these days and my sugars are still higher than they normally are. I’m awaiting a call from my dr to go over my sugar levels, not really looking forward to that at all. I am looking forward to my u/s and stress test tomorrow, I think the Baby has definitely dropped at this point, the pressure is crazy some times. Plus I cant wait to see if the dumb stress test picks up any contractions. I dont know what will happen if I cant get my sugar under control soon; the baby is still gaining more weight per week than he should, meanwhile I’m not, it’s so strange how that works. So tomorrow we’ll see how big he’s gotten in the last week and hopefully he’s still doing well as far as heart rate and all that good stuff. So I’m sure I”ll update tomorrow.

I feel like Dean’s working from home isn’t a good idea, as far as him getting work done. I took Caleb for a walk to the playground so he could get some work done and he did but he’s got a project that needs done yesterday and he feels like he cant get a handle on it. I will admit he’s more focused on work than I thought he would be, but he does have a deadline he is trying to get to. right now though he’s giving me a small break to recooperate from our walk to the playground, it’s good for the kid having daddy here, and it’s nice for me too. I’ve gotten just as much housework done if he wasnt here and am not resting as much as I’d like but the days only half over. well gotta run. i’ll update tomorrow.

to vote or not to vote

well everyones doing it, blogging about election day. I wasnt going to as in all honesty I dont give a darn about any of it, I know I really should, but I just dont care. My hubby tried to convince me to go do my civic duty and even made the kid tell me to but I wouldn’t give in. I will not make an uninformed decision. True it’s my own fault I dont know the canditates and the issues, but like I said I dont care to. I’m sure i could have found great online resources today to help me make an informed decision but again I didnt. There are enough people out there who care about this to take care of it for me, I will not go vote just to say I did. If and when I ever do vote it will be after long months of watching the issues and canidates and lots of research. So sorry for the disappointment folks and I’m sure I’ll upset a lot of politically active people but like I said I dont care!

One day maybe one day I’ll vote but todays not the day. Ironically while in high school I was all about researching canditates and knowing the issues, and back then I had no say in any of it. Now I’ve got the opportunity and am doing nothing about it. oh well, guess what, with or without my vote, someone will win and what I would or wouldn’t have voted wont really matter.

well the hubby and kid are back from doing “their civic duty” so I’m gonna get. I think if Dean hadnt brought it up and suprise the heck out of me and go vote himself I probably wouldnt have even posted about this. so thanks a lot hon!

35 weeks

well tomorrow will be the 35 week mark for Baby B. My nst and ob appt today was mostly uneventful. Despite nagging cramps and pressure all weekend of course not a thing showed up on the stress test, but I know that everytime the pain was worse this weekend was when I was up and moving and for the stress test they make you lay in a recliner for 30 minutes, so who knows. The baby’s movements are definitely slowing down, but not enough to warrant too much concern from the ob, but I”m supposed to start doing kick counts. I think he’s just running out of room in there!

after my appointment and picking up Caleb, we went to meet Dean for lunch downtown. A small celebration for our 6 year anniversary today. neither caleb or I were really feeling up to it but I knew it would be better than going home and fixing lunch for both of us, and it was quite yummy! no big anniversary plans that I know of, if I get my wish I’ll be asleep nice and early, of course after I manage to put away all the laundry I’ve been slacking on all day! Caleb doesnt have school tomorrow which is good and bad, the good is I dont have to keep him home cause he’s sick the bad is that means I’ll have him all day by myself and I really should get some rest. but we’ll get by. Dean’s first work from home day is Wednesday and I am really looking forward to it!

well a pretty uneventful day all around, which is good I suppose. but before I forgot, Happy Anniversary babe! I love you lots and wouldnt change a thing! I look forward to many more years of “doing life together!”
