some days I feel like a good homemaker, today I feel like half of a good stay at home mom. this morning I started some pulled beef bbq in the slow cooker, if you’ve never tried, any kind of meat made into pulled bbq sandwhiches via the slow cooker is one of the yummiest yet easiest meals to make! today was my first attempt w/ beef, apparently my specialty (so my BF thinks) is pulled chicken but I’ve also made pork before too. I spent the morning wiping Bo’s runny nose, working on children’s ministry stuff, doing a total of 5 loads of laundry and feeding the kiddo lunch.
Shortly before getting caleb I had to run to the christian bookstore to get something for church then made it home in time to park the car and walk to get Caleb. we spent a while working on his homework after which I finished up the bbq. Hung out a while waiting for Dean finishing up sides for dinner and chicken nuggets for the kiddos. after dinner Dean decided to hit the store in hopes of half price halloween candy, I convinced him I’d get dinner cleaned up quicker if he took both kids, he was only going to take Caleb. He found what I needed and no half price candy suprisingly, while I baked a dozen cookies from leftover dough in the fridge and made some homemade lasagna for tomorrow’s dinner. Oh yeah and I straightened he house and cleaned up dinner dishes! It felt good to have the house back in order and once we got the kids in bed I finished the lasagna and Dean has been putting away a basket of laundry that I couldnt carry up earlier today. All in all the house is straight, dinner for tomorrow just needs baked and now the laundry is put away. I love the end of busy days!
for anyone who cares, Dean and I celebrated our anniversary by meeting for lunch and going to Phillips seafood buffet. We love that place and for lunch we can somewhat afford it,for special occassions at least! Bo did wonderfully the whole time but he was so nosy about watching everyone; Caleb was the same way at this age. Dean got me not one but 2 cards, he said because both were perfect. I’m impressed by the fact I got a card at all let alone two…he is full of suprises. we didnt exchange gifts but lunch was expensive enough! we were in bed early. dean was working on his theater resume and it was fun going back over old theater stage managers books we’d kept. in one he found some notes I wrote to him during a rehearsal, the one was from shortly before we were married, it was a nice way to end the evening, remembering our past. we both miss working in the theater and Dean is doing what he can to get back into it. he sent his resume to Toby’s dinner theater in hopes of filling his desire to work in theater again and to supplement our income. I am really praying he gets a call about it!
Tonight I’m tired as always but it’s been so refreshing to have a hubby who helps out so much and who is still as silly as the day I met him. In the last year or so, he’s become a new person in terms of learning to help more. heck tonight I only asked him to bring up the laundry for me, but I went in and found him putting it away. it’s nice to not have to ask. it doesnt happen often but lately it’s been happening more often than not, it’s nice when I’m feeling overworked and underpaid! 😉 it also helps that he takes caleb to school for me in the morning and at night he puts caleb to bed and I put bo to bed so neither one of us has to do it all. he’s a great father and hubby and I am glad we’ve got so much to look forward to and that we’ve had such a great past.
