Wisdom from my walk

This is one of the gifts we got for Caleb, it’s a water tee ball set. It was on sale or I probably wouldnt have gotten it. I was starting to think it would be too cool to use it before school started but today it got warm again. As always Bo is hesistant around water at first, but in the end he was getting wet too! He wanted to put the ball in the holder but the closer he got the wetter he got so he usually ended up handing the ball to caleb instead. Caleb was soaked by the time we went into the house again, and happy, that’s really all that matters to me. He’s been having a huge attitude lately, he’s still having trouble adjusting to not doing something all day. So once Zeke fell asleep for nap I took Bo and Caleb out to play, I dont like to take Zeke out in our yard since he always comes in covered in misquito bites. The other two dont seem to get them as badly.

As payback for getting their son Moon Sand, which Caleb loves, and is super messy, my friend got this sidewalk paint set for Caleb’s birthday. I told her it’s not payback if my toy is an outdoor toy, I dont mind messy if it’s happening outsdie! But we got ourselves back by buying moon sand for caleb which tends to get everywhere! Bo again hated getting anything on him, so came to me upset when he had paint on his hand. He’s a strange kid I know. caleb had fun, and so did I honestly, with the paint toy.

Caleb and I built another one of his lego sets today and now he’s playing with it while Bo naps and Zeke fusses. he’s been very fussy since yesterday, we’re not sure what his problem is. Overall he’s still pretty happy but definitely not himself, so I gotta run and try to figure out what to do for him. I want to take a nap but theres tons of laundry to do and I really need to clean the house. I’m just so darn tired. i put a call into my dr this morning about my back pain, I might mention the fatigue again. I’m unfortunately gaining weight again pretty quickly so I might ask her if we can check my thyroid, this is about when it went whacko after having Bo. I hate being so tired when theres fun things to do with the kids. Gotta run, I think zeke might just be fighting sleep…

There’s one more room in the basement that needs work and little odds and ends Dean needs to finish up, like a few ceiling tiles and baseboards in the hallway and we’re done down there! He started seriously working on our bathroom last night, so that’s promising. So far in our basement, we’ve got a new spare room, updated bathroom, playroom w/ huge closet, office, and we have to work on the living area/laundry area and get our new back door installed. So not too bad. I’ve added some new lamps upstairs to go w/ my new furniture and am hoping to start working on painting in the dining room and figuring out how to tile the blacksplash in the kitchen. he’s getting too big too fast, my days of having a baby boy around are numbered and it makes me so sad!

It’s been a busy weekend, but today we’re being lazy!  well, I am at least!   Friday afternoon was busy with taking Bo to the dr, a trip to Ikea, and toysrus.  Saturday morning I ran errands in prep for Caleb’s birthday party, it was a very stressful morning.   I gave in to my physical pain and had ordered a cake from Sam’s club for the party, something I felt very guilty about to begin with.   I knew I could have made something wonderful, at the expense of my pain and stress.  So, when I got there to pick up the cake they couldnt find it, she finally did but forgot to put the price sticker on it, so I got to the checkout after waiting in a long line and had to have them cancel my checkout w hile we waited for the price.  A manager came over told the cashier it was $34, I said no it’s not, they had given the price for a much larger cake.  So…that meant more waiting, all the guilt I had been feeling about doing things that were easier to me as far as ordering a cake and holding it a bowling alley as opposed to our home built up while I waited not so patiently.   I broke down in tears in the car, it was just too much.  Knowing my son’s party wouldnt be as nice because I couldnt manage it physically to do it like I have in the past.   The cake looked horrible, they didnt do a good job at all on decorating it, it wasnt until after everyone said how good it tasted that I felt a little better about it.   we even forgot the candle that I had gotten for him, so no candle blowing out!!  Despite my being upset about how the day had gone, did I mention we ordered pizzas and they werent ready, so Dean had to go back and get them after dropping Caleb and I off to the bowling alley, having just one vehicle sucks too!     But Caleb had a ball at his party.   (the whole morning and afternoon before the party he was a complete horror, acting out and being miserable to Dean)   The plus side to having it elsewhere, the time was strict, no lingering guests, so the party was from 4-6, we were home by 6:30 to our mostly clean home and all we had to do was open Caleb’s gifts to play with, no clean up required.  So we had ordered pizzas for adults, the kids got hot dogs w/ the price of their bowling but hardly anyone at pizza, so we’re eating leftovers today!   So I didnt make the cake or party food, such a cop out I know.   I cant believe I let myself do such a thing, but Caleb did enjoy his party so maybe one day I can let go of the guilt of not being a supermom anymore.  the cake guilt will stay with me for a while I’m sure, I even had planned out the cake I would make, oh well, there’s always next year!!  thanks to all who attended or sent gifts, he’s enjoying so many new toys today!   He just built a lego firetruck, it’s pretty cool!

My baby is a baby no more, he’s going to be going to school full time and doing big boy things. he is smart for a 5 year old, sometimes I think too smart. He and Dean met my friend susan and their daughter at chuck e cheese last night, their son was home sick most likely because he had spent so much time with us, so now he and Bo are sick.

we are taking Bo to the dr this afternoon, we are keeping Caleb’s party set for tomorrow but someone will probably have to stay home with Bo pending what the dr says today.

Zeke seems to be doing fine, sleeping a lot though. Perhaps though just seems like he’s sleeping more since he’s taking longer naps as opposed to sleeping all all the time, he’ll be up for a few hours then nap for a few hours all throughout the day. He’s got an odd way that he sleeps though, turned on his side w/ his head facing up, he almost always sleeps this way. I had to catch this cute moment w/ him asleep w/ his toy. Way too sweet!

Please pray for Boaz, he has had a fever off and on all day, it just was at almost 104!!  after a bath and some tylenol it’s down to around 101.   I called the pediatricians office at 4:30 they told me to see how he does through the night and to call in the morning when they open, which is 9 to get a same day appt.   but that was before his fever went so high and he threw up!!   did I mention he has a rash too??   I’m worried we are going to have to reschedule Caleb’s birthday party, I have no clue what the bowling alley’s policy is on rescheduling…especially this late.   Pray he gets better soon!  zeke is somewhat lethargic and fussy too….his temp was around 99 when I checked earlier so I’m hoping it stays down!!   Caleb has no fever, although did a day or two ago, he just keeps complaining of a stomach ache, but I have one too!   Fun times.  At least I ordered a cake for his party so if we do have it none of our germs will be on it. i’m burning up, better check my temp again too.  It wasnt too bad earlier.   I hate being sick but I know I can handle it, it’s not being able to comfort these little guys that tears me up inside!!   Unfortunately it seems bo inherited my faulty immune system, go figure, the kid I breastfeed the longest gets sickest the most.   he would have been better off on formula from day one, I truly believe that, but instead now he suffers everytime he gets sick with not just being a little sick but getting really sick.    We never had as many issues w/ caleb being sick or so badly with caleb and he was formula fed, zeke too so we’ll see.  But I’m sure that’s just because my immune system sucks and you give your kid your immunities in your breastmilk so while the other two didnt get any but got good food for all those months, who knows what Bo got from the milk I produced, nothing great it seems.  well gotta run and try to sleep, bo is currently in my spot in bed.  I am hoping the tylenol helps him get comfortable so he can rest tonight, and so we can too!

We finally got our amended IRS tax refund money today, we knew it would come eventually, they told us it would be about 3 months and we just had to sit and wait on it.  It arrived today much to our suprise!   So…..I’ve been dreaming of new furniture that doesnt require a slip cover yet could hide the kids dirt if needed, and saw something on craigslists I liked but was a bit pricey, I’d never have even considered it if we hadnt gotten the tax money.   considering Dean had gotten a new mp3 player recently I felt it only fair I get something I could enjoy and really wanted as well, so after praying they still had it for sale and calling about it to arrange pick up and figuring how to get it, we were able to pull it off.  Thanks to my bestest friend Susan for keeping the kiddos and letting us borrow (ok it was more like steal) her hubby and van away since I was very unable to do any lifting.    I’m currently sitting on my new oversized overstuffed chair, it’s so comfy and looks perfect w/ our decor.   So we got a sofa, oversized chair w/ huge ottoman and really it’s all oversized! i dont think I’ve ever seen furniture so large before.    It’s definitely Dean size!  Bo wanted to sleep on the sofa, guessing since the last furniture we got was his bunk bed and he slept there since then that maybe he thinks all new furniture is his new bed!  :-)  I’m so happy about not needing slipcovers.  The lady we got it from said the covers on the cushions are washable and she gave us the accent pillows to match.  I’m in love and so grateful my hubby agreed to such a major purchase, and especially gratefuly our friends helped us out, considering how busy and crazy things are at their house w/ a new baby!!   So thanks!!

oh yeah…the title mentions the bad and the ugly too…so while Dean was working on replacing gutters yesterday he found this hole.  Last time he was working on the other side of the house he said he saw an animal in the attic, but said he was going to fix the roof/gutter area and assume the animal got out.   Looks like the animal got out alright, right after it chewed this massive hole in the house!!    So just another thing that needs replaced!

Dean finally remembered to take a before pic of a project we’re doing on the house, so here’s a kind of before of the bathroom that adjoins our bedroom.    It’s going to be a huge project, though we doubt not as big a deal to do as the bathroom we did downstairs.  it’s just leaving us without our bathroom to use for now which is showing me how spoiled I was to have our own bathroom to begin with.  the kids had theirs and we ours, now we have to share and I hate it!! definitely reminds me to look for a 2 bathroom home!

this has ended up as another night w/out working on the house, unless you count cleaning the living room to make room for the new furniture!   the next few nights no work will get done either as we do things to prepare for and celebrate Caleb’s 5th birthday!
