today Caleb and I went to serve at the drink giveaway with SOS again. It was so much fun, after we found where we were going after being lost for a few minutes! The woman who was scheduled to be with us was out sick so it was going to be just me, caleb and the youth group leader and 12 kids.   I was really worried about being in charge, and knowing that we had big buckets filled w/ at least one 22 lb bag of ice and a few dozen water bottles that would need carried around to different locations once we were there. After we loaded up our van another woman was teamed up w/ me, she had filled the back of her pickup w/ ice and water bottles, so we had a ton of water to give away, each group was to give away 30 cases(24 bottles per case) of water. on tuesday was didnt give out all of the water, today we did and it was awesome. we went to a location much closer to the city, ok in the city I beleive.  I dont miss being in the city that much, I realized that today after our outreach and going to the gas station there to get a drink and snack for Caleb.
One of the young guys with us said he gave some water to a car full of guys who were all smoking something and he knew it wasnt cigarettes. it was a great location for such a giveaway, but I dont know if I would have taken Caleb if I had known where we were going ahead of time. it ended up being fine, but it was a sketchy part of town. One guy in a car asked the young girl I was with for her number and she had to tell him several times it was about God not her.  she was awesome and it didnt seem to faze her at all.
our group was from Lexington KY today.  the group on tuesday was from cincy I believe.  I wish I could do something like this every day. I got a chance to spend one on one time w/ caleb, got a break from changing diapers, and did something meaningful. I also liked being in charge too, I dont know why but in the past I was really shy and now it’s just so easy for me to take on a leadership role, I get anxious but in the midst of it, I’m at my best. it’s was awesome getting to serve this way this week, and even better to overcome some obstacles to do so by myself(read: w/out Dean). just hoping I dont feel like crap tomorrow because I’m signed up to do childcare from 12-4 at the church and then Dean and I are signed up to help w/ baptisms tomorrow night, it’s the last night of the week of SOS and I’m sad to see the week coming to an end so soon.  and I’m not even a teeanager who the event is geared for!
Hope to get some pics up later this week, I used a disposable and pending if I can get them printed to a disk or not will depend on how soon I get them up on here. but it was fun, and we’re hoping to get to some of the Saturday morning outreaches as a family now that we’ve got the Servant Evangelism bug again!
