Wisdom from my walk

My weekend was pretty laid back.  I was in bed all day til 4 on Saturday while Dean spent the morning cutting the grass then he and the boys spent the afternoon canoeing w/ Dean’s family.   We had friends over for dinner then we played games.   Their son spent the night so Sunday morning all of the boys were up way too early for a weekend, but what could I do?  So we went to church later on then to the pool for a few hours.   My friend kept Bo and Caleb while Dean, Zeke and I went grocery shopping which was nice to do w/ one kid, not to mention since Zeke had no nap he slept in the stroller while we shopped!

No plans today but to put away laundry and later Bo has his first speech therapy appointment.  I am in serious pain and I might even call the doctor soon to get a faster reply on my ct scan results just because I’ve struggled all weekend w/ it.   well off to take care of the kids, wishing I could just stay in bed all day again…

ugh…it really sucks having to fix your kids dinner and not be able to eat anything! I’m fasting til my ct scan tonight.  loads of fun, wouldnt be so hard if Dean didnt bring home pizza and snax leftover from something they did at work today.  blah!  the plus is I didnt have to “make” dinner, the downside is Dean is in bed because he’s sick and I’m alone at mealtime w/ the kids and I cant even have a bite!!

but….it’s not yet 8:30 a.m. and the boys are bathed but not fed and I am still in jammies and have huge puffy eyes which are the first obvious sign of how exhausted I am.  Around 4 a.m. Zeke fell out of his bed, and he slept w/ us for the rest of the morning.   He kept holding his head and I was scared to let him go to sleep since the knot on his head was pretty big.    Dean awoke sick, either allergies or a cold.   Caleb’s had to take allergy meds every day and even then he’s rubbing his itchy eyes and having a runny nose.

I am soo sleepy and the day is just starting.  we’ve got a playdate at church and I’m hoping to rest this afternoon if I can get Bo to agree to it while Zeke naps.   Tonight I’m going to get my ct scan done which means fasting after 4 p.m., drink nasty barium drink 1/2 at 6:30 and the other 1/2 at 7:30.  Then once I am there and they have done a few things I will an iv contrast.  Sounds like a great way to spend my Friday night right?   I’m really anxious about it and other things going on and all I really want to do is sleep

well I better get up and going the kids are hungry and I need a shower so we can leave in less than an hour.   ……at least it’s Friday

I’ve been putting off going to the doctor, again!  I just have bad luck w/ going and hearing things I dont want to hear.   But…after a few very painful days I made an appointment for today since Dean had already taken the day off.  So…after stopping by the school to drop off something for Bo’s re-evaluation process, then going to Kings Island for a few hours w/ the family (and feeling horrible the whole time! ) I went to my appointment.  My blood pressure was ridiculously high, I’m chalking that up to the pain I’m in since usually that makes it go up for me and last week when I had it checked it was normal.   It comes down to another test, this time an abdominal ct scan.  Should be loads of fun, sooo not looking forward to the barium drink!   I have to wait for the doctors office to get pre-cert from my insurance before scheduling the test, I’m hoping to at least get a call tomorrow so I can schedule soon since I’m feeling badly.  I’m in pain and am nauseas all day long, and at night even.  the problem is the pain radiates and isnt quite where gall stones would be or kidney stones, so she was conflicted just what type of test would be diagnose whatever is going on.  I love making doctors work hard!!   (esp. new doctors!)

Tonight we met Caleb’s teacher since tomorrow is the first day of school.  We also had friends over for dinner.  It’s been a very long day and I am so glad to finally be sitting in bed!!   The next few days are going to be busy too, and next week.    Ugh…so much to look forward to.  One day at a time though right, so for now I’m just glad I made it through today and am able to rest, even if I’m still feeling miserable.

we went w/ some friends to the zoo today.  It was pretty fun.  It was neat because I sent an email saying I was going today to my moms group members, as well as some other friends that dont go to moms group.  So…it ended up being a mix of my friends which was pretty neat, and we all live close to each other which was cool too but not everyone knew everyone else.   There were 5 adults and 10 kids, and they were all boys!!  the chances of that are pretty slim I’m sure so it was interesting!   we had a lot of fun though!   We got to feed the giraffes again which I really enjoy.   more pics up on Flickr.

So Bo had been sharing a room w/ Caleb, because he wanted to.   About a week or so ago he ch anged his mind and has gone back to sleeping in his old room, which had since been converted to the guest or spare bedroom that housed a queen bed and my niece whenever she stays here.    She hadnt been here since he had changed his mind so was upset when she found out.  Then I had to go and really ruin things for her and make it completely his room and re-decorate it.  We’re going to leave the queen sized bed for now, he seems to be rather comfortable there and for the last two nights he and Laura have shared the bed.  I went in last night to check on them and was worried at first because when I walked in the room I didnt see Bo at all, then I looked again and he was cuddled up close to her.    I had to take a pic.    When Laura was little, either Bo’s current age or younger even we lived w/ my SIL and she worked nights so Laura would often end up sleeping in our room w/ us.    It’s cute to watch him now w/ her, it’s really sweet.   We’re, okay, Dean really, is working on adding one of Caleb’s presents to his bedroom.   I’ll get pics up of that when it’s done, but probably not til tomorrow because I have a killer migraine right now.  

before I forget, Dean and Caleb had their first cub scout event for the season.  Dean is the leader and planned to take them to a rock climbing place and then we all met up for a pizza lunch at a nearby park.   Pics up of that on flickr as well.  I am sad I missed it, Laura and the lil’ ones and I went to K-mart (they are having a huge clearance sale w/ an add’l 40% off the clearance price!!  figures they dont have anything in Caleb’s size though! )

I am soooo tired!  I’m not sleeping well if at all at night.   I havent been able to use my new sleep apnea mask because it actually hurts my nose, so I made an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow. I just dont know what other options I have, I knew in the past I needed nasal surgery because my airway was so small but I never had it done.  I wonder now if that would help or not, I am hoping to talk to the doctor about it tomorrow.   Until then, I’m exhausted and achy. I actually wore my foot brace today to prevent my foot pain from worsening, it’s amazing how just a few hours wearing it not only prevents further pain but my foot usually feels a lot better for a few hours afterward as well.   I worked this morning and was supposed to go help out some friends tonight but I just cant.  if I could be in bed right now I would be!   But…that would mean I’d be even more awake tonight, it’s such a miserable cycle when you need sleep but no matter how you get it its not enough.

Zeke has been coughing for a few days and I’m worried he may need to see the doctor as well, but tomorrows Friday and that means if I dont take him he’ll probably get worse over the weekend.  blah..no plans for us this weekend, at least not for me and the little kids so it’s not a big deal.  Dean and Caleb are going to a rock climbing place on Saturday for their first cub scout event for this school year.  It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Well it sounds like the big kids need supervising.   Earlier they told me there was a rat in the basement.  I didnt see anything and I’m praying it’s nothing but if there are animals in our home I will lose it.  I dont think I mentioned our wasp problem lately have I?  but I am done w/ living like we are outside w/ all the bugs in the house, esp when they are the playroom and laundry area where we spend most of our time.

well enough whining for now……it’ almost the end of the work day for me….that means Dean gets to come home and take care of the kids while I rest…hopefully
