It’s a rainy rainy day but that’s ok, we’re going to have fun anyway….

We went to the library for storytime then came home since it was so blah outside. While Bo was napping I decided I wanted some snackage, we had nothing in the house so once he woke up we went to the grocery store in the pouring rain to get supplies to bake cookies. I made said cookies and was dissapointed, they werent as good as I’d been dreaming about all day. Oh well. I think we’re spending the evening at the Y but it depends on if I’m able to get any rest between now and then!

tomorrow the boys have check ups, Caleb’s 4 year and Bo’s 9 month. I’m dreading having to take the boys alone since Caleb has to get a shot. I guess I have to get over it since I have no other choice! Pray he doesnt get too upset about it!

We left Ohio at about 8 am this morning. We arrived at our home in Balto. at around 445. I havent made good time like that since I did it by myself! The kids were great and I was fine, just got exhausted for the last hour which made it hard. I got home to my hubby waiting for us on the deck to help us onload. Inside what appeared to be a clean house, truth was it was exactly as I left it. So exact in fact that the leftover birthday cake from Caleb’s party on Aug 6th was still sitting on the counter. Inside the fridge were leftover party food and the crabs we had that night after the party guests left. Other than that and the grass being unmowed I have no other complaints. I am looking forward to having someone else get up w/ Bo so that I can sleep some, I am really tired. I’m going to have Dean upload pics tonight, after he does all our vacation laundry of course! 😉

Home Again, home again, clickity click

I’ve had a stressful week even though it’s meant to be a vacation. I guess I just figured it would be an easier week than it has been. I’ve decided we’re heading home tomorrow instead of later in the week like I was originally planning. I miss Dean and being at “home” The kids need a kid friendly place to be and right now we are doing better at my SIL’ s house. I wish I would have come here earlier in the week, I wanted to but Dean was insistent that I stay at his parents. Here the kids have toys, a playground set and Bo has a lot of baby friendly space, and the best part for Caleb has been having his cousins to play with. But they (my SIL and her family) were out of town til last night so there wasnt much to do about it unless we stayed here with none of them here. Caleb doesnt want to go home tomorrow but I’m worn out and just ready to be home w/ my hubby.

The kids have their check ups this Wednesday, Bo for his 9 month and Caleb’s 4 year check up. We found out Caleb got accepted into the local public elem. school so he’ll be going Mon-Fri all day, well the same hours as the rest of the students, something like 7:45-2:15 or something. I’m so glad he got accepted, he is going to love going to “big school” and I’ll have time to enjoy with Boaz. We went to Walmart and bought him a lunchbox while here and he was excited about it. He keeps saying he doesnt want to go to big school because he doenst want to get a shot. I told him that when he goes to the dr this week he’ll be getting a shot and now he doesnt want to go to the dr or to school because of it.

I’ll hoping to update w/ some great pics from our trip and from Caleb’s birthday sometime next week. Until then I just want to get home safely and quickly and give my hubby a big hug and kiss, and a good nights sleep would be wonderful too!!

Happy Birthday Caleb

My little boy turns 4 today!!! No big plans really, we’ll probably make cupcakes and just hang out. I wish Dean was here to celebrate. i think it’s neat to be here in Ohio 4 years to the day that I gave birth to him since he was born in Ohio. It’s odd to be here with out Dean, Ohio was always about Dean and I together, this week it’s about me, the kids and the In laws. It’s just not the same without him! love you honey!

Checking in

The boys and I are in Ohio. We arrived Monday around 5 pm, it only took us 9 hours, I’m sure it may have been longer if my MIL wasnt with us and drove half of the way. It’s nice to know that I am missed back at home already, and I do miss being home. The biggest problem so far is staying in a not childproofed home. I’m trying to adjust but it’s wearing me out chasing after Bo. At home there are days when he finds a way to get into a lot of new things but mostly I’ve got the house to a point that he can crawl around freely as long as I vacuum frequently, as in at least once a day. Here everything is free reign and I feel hopeless as what to do with him. I wish I had two pack and plays with me so I could have one on each floor but I dont. Today I did my best to keep the kids out all day and it wore us out. Caleb didnt nap this afternoon so he was asleep shortly after 7 pm. Caleb was laying in a recliner watching this movie I got at Half Price Books, a store I wish we had in Baltimore where I got 5 movies some dvd some vhs all for $15!! but point was, he fell asleep in that chair and I moved him to the bed a little bit ago and he hasnt stirred! Boaz has been asleep since around 8 pm. I barely slept all night last night so I am headed to bed after updating in case they are up early since they went to sleep so early, that and I”m so tired.

Well I’m gonna run, wanted to let everyone know we arrived safely and have spent the day poolside or outside playing. I played phone tag w/ my dr today and last message I got from her said she’ll not be in the office tomorrow and that she wants to talk to me on Thursday. I keep forgetting what I am writing so I’m out for now. Have a good week and I’ll update more later on! Pray the kids and I sleep well tonight!

Bible Basics

My baby boy turns 4 next week, we’re doing the celebrating this weekend. I got all teary today at the ending session of VBS, mostly because he was up on stage singing and it made me so proud. Also because I’m so happy that my child is learning about God. I admit I may not be the best example in his life, though Dean and I strive to raise our children with values.

Something I was struggling this week to teach Caleb about is offering. At our church, the kids don’t give offering as part of Sunday school and offering isnt collected during the regular service either. In the back of the church there is a box where you put your money in. Offering is rarely mentioned even. Sometimes during a service they will explain for new people why we dont do offering as a part of the service and how to give an offering. Dean and I have our tithes taken directly out of our bank acct and the bank sends a check to the church every two weeks. This makes it an unseen thing in our house, tithing that is. This week atVBS the kids were given envelopes to bring home and return with the next day holding their offering. I struggled right away with how to explain to a 3 year old what offering was since it was not something he’d experienced before. It went something like this: do you remember how you learned that God provides for us? What does God provide for us? After some coaching we talked about how God provides us w/ money to buy food and of course his first answer was toys! I told him that God likes it when we share and because He gives us the money that we have it’s a way to thank him to give and share money with the church so that they can use it to help people who dont have money to buy things. It was the best answer I could come up with and I pray it was the right thing to teach him about offering.

Growing up in the church I did there were a lot of rules and as an adult I realized some of those rules were based on scriptures that were reworded or twisted to instill fear and discipline in us as children. I want my children to learn of a God who is freeing and who want to serve God out of worship and thankfulness, not out of the fear that was instilled in me growing up. This week one of the VBS songs went like this: I want to clap my hands, stomp my feet, beat on a drum, swing in a tree, I’m am so free because the Father loves me! (it was a safari themed VBS thus the swinging in a tree like a monkey) I get so proud of my little boy when he sings this and the other VBS songs that are helping him to learn more about a loving, freeing, protecting, providing Father. Taking him to VBS this week has not only been convenient for me to get party related shopping done w/out him, but it’s reminded me how much I’ve not taught my son. We go to church every week and we do our best to institll values in Caleb but there are some things I didnt think he was old enough to understand. Unfortunately it seems he’s more than willing and able to learn about God. I only pray that Dean and I are adequately prepared to teach him to be a awesome child of God. thank God we dont have to do it alone!
