Redecorating

beforekitchendining.jpg                          afterdiningkitchen.jpgAlbeforekitchencounter.jpgbeforekitchen.jpgmost all of the walls in our house are an offwhite/eggshell color.   We’ve never had white walls, at least not in our last home.   White walls are good for one thing…showing every piece of dirt that 3 kids and 2 dogs can bring into the house.   I am getting sick of dirty white walls.  So…I’m determined to change things.  So, a gallon of $5 oops paint of my favorite color ever( a dark purple) and…voila!  no kid or dog dirt will show!   but now that  I’ve got one purple wall and the rest all off white I’m really dying to get more color in this place!!   Next is the staircase, as it already has a drywall patch from a baby gate, and we dont have a paint to color match, so I get to paint that and will probably do the upstairs hallway the same color.  I’m throwing around  a few color ideas.   but for now I get to enjoy a more colorful kitchen!kitchenafter.jpg

and the craziest part, other than a dark purple kitchen, is that I painted it last night, after doing the cake yesterday we went to church then to chicfila for dinner and to lowes for some supplies then I came home and painted, all by myself!  doesnt look too bad for a job done by me all by myself after a busy day!  I love to paint actually, esp. if it’s a color I got to choose all by myself.  Deaneatinkitchenafter.jpg doesnt care as long as I dont make him help me paint, he HATES to paint.     after I had started painted and it was too late to turn back, I realized that I had made the dumb mistake of starting a project the night before we were having dinner guests!  Dean was having the cub scout families over for a cook out to get to know everyone counterafter.jpgbefore we had our first meeting.   So I had to have it done and the tape off the walls by 5 pm today.  So I painted last night and did touch ups this morning while the kids played and Dean slept in.   We had the tape off sometime after lunch.  pretty quick for a last minute project !!

Very nice…I think I’m on Dean’s team though…I hate painting…especially since it feels like I’ve been painting NON STOP for a year. After getting the house in MD ready to sell and getting this place ready to live in, I’m DONE. 🙂 Of course, we still have a couple of things to do…but they can wait. Then Jeff can do it. hahaha
