for those keeping track, Bo went to the dr this week, he has a yeast infection (from being on antibiotics so often) and another ear infection. Today we took Caleb for a rash that he’s had on his feet for a long time but that in the last week or two has turned into something worse. I wasnt able to get in w/our regular pediatrician, the one we saw yesterday so I took who was available. She wasnt too sure what it was but in the end is treating him for scabies. the rash is ONLY on his feet and like I said has been there a long time but is just now getting worse. She said she was going to just give a steroid cream but some of the area looks “suspicious” thus the one time treatment for scabies. We wont know if it’s worked for a week or two. I’m supposed to wash everything he has in hot hot water or seal it in a bag for 2 days to let the bugs die. we’re not convinced it’s scabies. we’ve all been around him and Bo has even bathed with him and none of us caught this highly contagious rash? not to mention it’s only on his feet. we are indulging her and trying the treatment although I’m not going out of my way to wash all of his stuff since I JUST washed all of his sheets yesterday. I went ahead and put all of his socks since that’s the only affected area and his sheets in the wash on hot w/ bleach and detergent but like I said we werent too convinced with her reasoning. it doesnt match up w/ the stuff I found online about it either.
dean left around 3:30 for the weekend mens retreat. they are calling for snow and I’m praying I at least get to attend the womens tea tomorrow before it gets too bad. I wasnt planning on going to church alone w/ the boys becuase the times I’ve tried that it’s way too hard on me and I’m not feeling so good still. This afternoon my throat started to get scratchy and is now killing me. I’ve felt sick all week but in different ways. I think my immune system is going crazy. Bo’s on meds, and Caleb is sleeping w/ the lotion for scabies on that he has to wash off in the morning. Dean is off having fun and I’m here trying to occupy sick kids. Caleb has said at least a dozen times he wants daddy and Dean hasnt even been gone a day yet! It was really fun getting that lotion all over him, he was fine getting it spread all over but once it hit his sore feet he was in tears. Like I said no rash anywhere but his feet, so nothing bothered him til it touched the rash on his feet. He cried a good deal about it and wanting Dean. I almost washed it off but convinced him to put some socks over it then if he had to itch it he could, that seemed to calm him. I am praying really hard they both sleep allnight w/out incident so that I can too.
I really feel crappy and selfishly wish dean hadnt gone away but I know we both need a break and really he’s the only one who can afford it so I’ll let him enjoy the weekend while I tend house. tonight I kept Caleb busy working on preparing his valentines and treat bags for his friends at school. Tomorrow I have nothing set for him to do, like I said I’m hoping the snow holds off so that I can go to the ladies tea where he’ll be able to play with friends (free childcare for the ladies attending the tea!!) and I can have some peaceful adult socialization!
Not that it matters since we are not sharing, but we think we’ve chosen a name for the newest McKenzie to be. The middle name is a tribute to my great grandparents who have now both passed away, so that is cool. Caleb’s middle name is Richard as is Dean’s after his grandfather. Boaz’s middle name is Iain which is the gaelic form of John, my mom’s fathers name. So this childs middle name will be for my dads side of the family. You can guess away at either name cause we are not sharing. well maybe the middle name if you care to know since it holds great meaning for me but I’d rather not for fear I’d give up the whole name and then ruin the suprise!
well the kids are asleep I should probably get in bed soon in case they keep me up later on. Pray for a peaceful night!!

You’re keeping me in suspense here… did the dr. say anything about hand, foot and mouth disease? check his hands really closely for bumps… been thinking about you, miss our chats!!
