Caleb has a field trip coming up on Monday to the museum of art. I paid and thought it was a done deal. Today he brings home a letter saying he may not be able to go, that I need to appeal due to his attendance. he has to maintain 94% attendance to go. ok, he was out a whole week due to that first illness. less than two weeks later he was out w/ strep. the first time I got a drs note and didnt worry about it. for the strep appt I was so stressed I forgot to ask for a drs note. it just so happens the week he had strep and missed was when we went to Ohio for thanksgiving. If I can give a drs note he might be able to go on the field trip. I told the receptionist he was out 11/21(the day he went to the dr and got diagnosed w/ strep) – and didnt return til 11/29. I’m hoping they’ll write the note for the whole time but even so, he would have only missed 2 days for the ohio trip and the first few days were covered. so hoping if anything they write note til the 28th. one day unexcused should allow him to go on the field trip, I hope! I guess this will be our last year going away for Thanksgiving since it screws up his attendance, but in reality he was sick for all the days but 2. I knew it would bite us in the butt going to Ohio. I dont know what happens if he gets sick and misses more, I dont think attendance should be such a big deal when it’s preschool, it’s not mandatory and not all the schools offer preschool but we’re held to the same attendance rules as all the grades and for first year kids in a preschool that’s a bit stressful, i mean preschoolers get sick more often than the general population.. oh well…it’s just a dumb field trip, but he’s been talking about it since they told him about it. they should have told me he might not be allowed to go before getting his hopes up and taking my money!

Did I mention this trip only cost $3, for the bus. In order to go to his drs office and pick up a drs note it’s going to cost me $4 in tunnel tolls and I was just there on Monday for Bo’s check up, had they sent home todays note with the permission slip on Friday I wouldnt be so pissed. Ugh…why does Caleb have to be so excited about this dumb trip, if he wasnt I’d say forget it. if they dont allow him to go he’s not going to school on Monday to watch all of his classmates board the bus to his much anticipated field trip. ok now I’m starting to sound like the mom of a kid in his class who I hate listening to complain(to put it nicely) but I’m really frustrated by this. I mean the kid was on doctor prescribed meds, he was sick. 103 degree fever sick.
